Where: TCF Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN.  Race check-in 15-45 minutes prior to heat near Minnesota Tribal Nations Plaza, (West end of the stadium).  Same day registration is possible at the race check in location.  Parking is available around the stadium, $4-$6.

When:  May 30th, 2015, racing climbers and Burly Bank climbers start at 7 am, Participant Climbers start at 9 am.

Who: Everyone!  If you’re a serious racer or athlete, the timed race through 6054 stairs will challenge you (3027 up and 3027 down).  If you just want to have fun or show support for kidney cancer awareness and climb stairs, set your goal and achieve it.  The lower bowl has half stairs and handrails and at anytime you can step out of the course and walk over to the elevator to the Club Room.  Be sure to pop some kidney cancer cells (balloons).  Early Bird Registration ends May 16th, midnight (Adults $35, Kids 12-17 $28.00, under 12 free, Teams of 5 or more $28.00 each),  Then $45, $38 May 17-29.  Same day registration $55, $48.  Special student registration code “umnclimb15” gets you in for only $20, $30 for same day registration.  Must show your school ID at race check-in.  Note, the registration site will be down for updates from May 17th-May 20th.  You can still call in to register during business hours.

What: Break the Bank- Climb 4 Kidney Cancer is a celebration for those whose lives have been affected by Kidney Cancer.  It is also a professionally managed event with a chip-timed race early in the morning, and a non-competitive fun climb.  Children under the age of 10 are welcome to climb with adult supervision, but are not allowed in the race portion of the climb.  FAQ

The Piggy Bank: Climb the lower bowl!  Smaller steps.  2536 Stairs (1267 up and 1267 down), 760 ft. of elevation rise. Average finishing time last year was 41 minutes. Race Map.   Results

The Big Bank:Tour de Stade, Climb the entire stadium!  6054 Stairs (3027 up and 3027 down) 1785 ft. of elevation rise.  Average finishing time last year was 54 minutes, winning time 34 minutes.  Race Map.   Results

The Burly Bank (New This Year!):  Climb the entire stadium over and over until your calves just can’t take it any more during the 5 hours of the event.  Must climb the Big Bank completely and then return to the starting point.  You can start as early as 7 am and the last time through the stadium must be started by 11 a.m. and conclude by 12 noon.  Your fastest lap will be considered for Big Bank placing. Race Map.   Results

You will indicate which “Bank” you want to climb on climb day at check in.  The race finishes through the grand arched gate next to Goldy’s Locker Room.  Then head up to the beautiful TCF Bank Club Room for a post race reception.  Look out from the best seats in the house and see your face on the famous TCF Bank Scoreboard!  All participants will take home a performance jersey.  Extra jerseys can be purchased on the day of the event.

Kidney Cancer Information (New This Year!)At 11:30 there will be a short educational presentation in the Club Room on Kidney Cancer and the challenges we face and how you can help.

See Your Face on the TCF Scoreboard.  Click here for details on how you can see your face, or the face of your loved one on the famous 5 story TCF Bank Stadium scoreboard.  This is a unique opportunity for us to recognize our kidney cancer heroes in the same place where we recognize our favorite Minnesota Gophers and Minnesota Vikings heroes.

Fundraise (New This Year!)You can make your climb count even more this year.  You can make an individual or team fundraising web page through our easy online tool-click here.  It only takes a few minutes and then you can email, or post on facebook, twitter or other social media platforms to raise money.  Donations are 100% tax deductible and all donations go directly to kidney cancer research, i.e. none are used for event operating expenses, etc.  Instructions here.    Or you can donate directly now by clicking here.

 

100% of the net proceeds from this event will go to University of Minnesota Foundation to fund Kidney Cancer research.  An example of a project this event will help support is the development of an exciting new medication for kidney cancer!  Other projects include a kidney cancer screening study and a patient educational app.
