We met Professor Daniyarova in Kazakhstan. We were there with Dr. Badri Konety to teach a master’s class in Urologic Oncology. Read about our climb to honor Duriya. Professor Daniyarova had been recently found to have a large kidney mass in the lower pole of her left kidney. She had some interesting vascular anatomy with two renal arteries (one normal one and another that went directly to the tumor from the lower aorta, near the bifurcation. She also had a circumaortic left renal vein. This doesn’t cause any problems for the kidney, it just makes the surgery a little more complicated.
Professor Daniyarova has had quite a career here she writes of some of the highlights:
I graduated from KazGU University with a degree in journalism. I worked at the national television and Radio company “Kazakhstan” for 25 years. In those years, I interviewed our first president Nursultan Nazarbayev several times. Now, as you know, I work at the university. I have a son and a daughter, as well as four grandchildren.
