Paul Blake- 2018 Climb4KC Scholar
Paul grew up in Minneapolis and got interested in medicine because of his mother, who is a doctor. As a medical student, he got involved in an interesting project with Dr. Christopher Weight at the University of Minnesota on using augmented human intelligence/machine learning to correctly identify kidney cancer automatically on a CT scan.
This research has the potential to provide physicians with a valuable tool when assessing kidney cancers and result in more informed decision-making that ultimately benefits the patient. Some of his work was presented at the prestigious European Association of Urology 2019 Annual Meeting and won “Best Poster of the Kidney Cancer Imaging Session 2019 in Barcelona, Spain.
Paul expressed gratitude for the C4KC donors and said that “Much of the work we have done would not be possible without the contributions from donors.”
For fun, Paul likes to exercise and get outside with his dogs.
