About Us
Climb 4 Kidney Cancer is a nonprofit organization that aims to raise money for kidney cancer research while bringing people together through climbing.
Our teams is composed of engaged physicians, scientists, survivors, and loved ones who share a passion for climbing the mountain of kidney cancer. We draw on the symbolism of climbing and fighting cancer and have a passion for improving the lives of those affected by kidney cancer.
MISSION STATEMENT
MISSION STATEMENT
We climb to promote wellness, research, and to elevate and celebrate those affected by kidney cancer
What We Do
-
Stair Climbing Events
Starting in Minneapolis in 2013, we help organize stair climbing events to raise money for kidney cancer research but also to celebrate and educate those affected by kidney cancer. In 2024 we will add another stadium climb in Cleveland
-
Patient Stories
Patient stories are powerful and inspiring. We share stories of kidney cancer patients around the world and help celebrate and elevate those affected by kidney cancer.
-
Mountain Climbs
We have climbed mountains for kidney cancer patients all around the world. These self funded climbs allow us to use every dollar donated to fund life-saving kidney cancer research.
-
Fund Research
100% of donation money and all net proceeds from climbing events are used to fund kidney cancer research. For many years, we’ve provided scholarships to entice the brightest minds to do kidney cancer research.
VISION STATEMENT
VISION STATEMENT
We will keep climbing 4 kidney cancer until we reach the summit and there are no more kidney cancer patients to climb for.
OUR VALUES
OUR VALUES
1. 100% of all donations and 100% of net earnings go to kidney cancer research and advocacy*
2. Promote healthy outdoor lifestyles to prevent cancer and cancer recurrence
3. Tell patient stories through stair climbing, rock climbing and mountain climbing events around the world
4. Use the symbolism and imagery of climbing to elevate and celebrate those affected by cancer
5. Prioritize research that explores the connection between wellness and cancer prevention and treatment
*Some corporate donations are given to support specific programs or events, but 100% of private/individual donations and corporate contributions stipulated for research will go to research funding.
The parallels, symbols and comparisons between climbing and the battle against kidney cancer are rich and instructive. Climbing is a metaphor for life and its application is even more insightful to those facing the challenge of kidney cancer. It may offer some insight into the journey that begins with the words, “You have cancer.”

We cannot meet our goals without the help of many, many wonderful volunteers or Team8s (teaMmates) as we like to call them. Volunteer and become our Team8. See the organizational structure and look for opportunities to volunteer. We are committed to maximizing your contributions so that they go where you (and we) want them to go. We commit that 100% of donations from individuals go to Cancer Research.* No board member is paid for serving on the board. Your contributions do not pay for travel for climbs we do around the world either. These are all self-funded climbs. We also commit to donating 100% of the net proceeds of all climbing events.
*Some corporate donations are given to support specific programs or events, but 100% of private/individual donations and corporate contributions stipulated for research will go to research funding.
