A Shocking Diagnosis

At the age of 51, Bonnie’s life changed when she noticed unusual symptoms that led her to see a doctor. The diagnosis? Kidney cancer.

“I was shocked,” Bonnie recalls. Despite the initial fear, she knew staying positive would be essential to facing the challenges ahead.

Treatment and Recovery

Bonnie underwent surgery to remove the affected kidney tissue and also received systemic therapy, including targeted treatments and immunotherapy. Today, her scans show stable disease — some spots remain, but they are not growing.

Through it all, Bonnie has learned to focus on the things she can control: her health, her mindset, and her daily habits.

Finding Strength in Faith and Family

Bonnie credits her family and close friends as the cornerstone of her support system. Their encouragement helped her navigate the highs and lows of treatment.

Her faith also played a pivotal role in her journey.

“Keep your faith. God first — He is the one that is going to carry you through,” Bonnie shares.

Life Beyond Kidney Cancer

Outside of treatment and medical appointments, Bonnie continues to embrace life fully. She works as a hairdresser and enjoys hobbies that keep her active and happy, including:

  • Cooking and baking

  • Walking and biking

  • Working out

For Bonnie, maintaining a healthy lifestyle has been an important part of staying strong both physically and emotionally.
