We climbed Lobuche peak for David!
David Boyd
Diagnosis and Initial Emotions
At 60 years old, David’s life took an unexpected turn. During a routine CT scan—or possibly an MRI for another reason—he discovered he had kidney cancer. “I was completely shocked. I was numb and could not believe what my family doctor was telling me,” he recalls.
Treatment and Care
Following the diagnosis, David was referred to the Cleveland Clinic, where he was impressed by the efficiency and care he received. “I was shocked at how fast my surgery was scheduled and how prompt everything was done. I commend Dr. Christopher and his team for the prompt attention that I received there.” David underwent surgery, and today he is proud to say he is cancer-free, with no evidence of disease.
Life Before and After Kidney Cancer
Professionally, David has dedicated 36 years as a computer draftsman and continues to work in that field. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time at his family camp in the mountains of West Virginia—a place that brings him peace and joy beyond his health journey.
Support System
David credits much of his resilience to his loving family. “My wife, Carol, and my daughter, Shelby, were my biggest support during this journey,” he shares.
Advice for Others
When asked what advice he would give to someone newly diagnosed, David emphasizes faith and hope: “Stay faithful and trust in God.”
