Steven’s Kidney Cancer Story

Steven was diagnosed with kidney cancer in his 40s after noticing blood in his urine—a shocking discovery for someone who had been healthy his whole life. Adding to the surprise, his father-in-law had experienced the same symptom just a week earlier and was also diagnosed with kidney cancer.

Remarkably, both Steven and his father-in-law underwent surgery at the University of Minnesota one week apart and even shared the same hospital room during their recoveries.

Due to the size of Steven’s tumor and his younger age at diagnosis, he initially faced about a 50% chance of recurrence. Today, several years later, both he and his father-in-law remain cancer-free, a testament to timely treatment and resilience.
