We climbed Half Dome in 2023 for Victor
Victor Rabb
Retired Railroad Engineer
Victor’s life was defined by remarkable strength, deep faith, and a steadfast determination to embrace each day. His journey with cancer spanned decades—far more than anyone should have to endure—yet he faced every chapter with courage and gratitude.
Victor’s story began as a young man when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Surgery and radiation allowed him to continue living a full and meaningful life. At 76, new stomach issues led to a CT scan revealing cancer in both kidneys. While the mass on his left kidney was initially labeled benign, the right kidney required urgent removal—a surgery that proved successful.
During a three-month follow-up, a small bladder tumor was discovered. After surgery and six chemotherapy treatments, Victor once again heard the welcome words, “all clear.” However, an MRI later revealed the mass on his left kidney had begun to grow. A biopsy confirmed a different type of kidney cancer, leading to a successful robotic partial nephrectomy. That surgery gifted his family 2½ precious years filled with memories, love, and togetherness.
In November 2024, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He responded well to chemotherapy and radiation, showing the resilience that had defined him for so long. But in the fall of 2025, the cancer returned aggressively, spreading quickly to his liver and throughout his abdomen. Despite a brave fight, Victor passed away on November 7.
Victor’s story is one of perseverance, hope, and unwavering faith. Through each trial, Victor never lost his gratitude, often saying, “Thank you to my Heavenly Father.” He is deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the strength he showed, and the love he shared.
