Greg’s Story: Trusting Through the Unexpected

Name: Greg F.
Age at Diagnosis: 71
Current Status: Cancer free (no evidence of disease)

An Unplanned Discovery

After 71 years of mostly good health—and 50 years without spending a night in a hospital—Greg began experiencing shortness of breath.

That symptom led to a CT scan for reasons unrelated to his kidneys. During that scan, doctors discovered kidney cancer that no one had been looking for.

Treatment and Recovery

Greg underwent surgery for his kidney (nephrectomy/partial nephrectomy) and also received systemic treatment, including targeted therapy, immunotherapy, or chemotherapy as part of his care plan.

Today, he is cancer free, with no evidence of disease.

Faith Over Fear

When Greg and his wife first heard the diagnosis, their reaction was different from what many might expect.

“Oddly, my wife and I did not ‘freak out’ with the news. We were a bit stunned but we believe in God and trust Him in all circumstances as best we can.”

Their faith and trust helped carry them through the shock and uncertainty of his diagnosis and treatment journey.
